💰 Money for Redwood City threatened by feds, prompts lawsuit

Redwood City is now part of a coalition suing federal agencies after new grant conditions threatened to pull $25.3 million in funding meant for local projects. Those funds back everything from affordable housing to safety-net services, stormwater system upgrades, and park improvements. City officials argue that new demands conflict with local values and undermine community trust.

The lawsuit names the U.S. DOT, HUD, and EPA as defendants. For Redwood City this isn’t just about money, it’s about preserving priorities set by Congress and ensuring local plans don’t get derailed. Read more here.

📝 San Mateo County seeks feedback for Coastside resort proposal

County planners are inviting the public to drop feedback and ideas for a major resort proposal along the coast, with a pre-application workshop set for Sept. 30. The idea is still in its early stages of development, so community input will help shape what actually gets proposed.

Possible issues on the table: environmental impact, traffic, infrastructure, and how it fits with the character of the coast. The workshop gives locals a chance to weigh in before plans firm up. If you care about coastal access or impacts on the coastside vibe, this is one to watch. Read more here.
